Released in 1999, AoE II is now seeing tournaments with 75,000 viewers and $87,000 prize pools, thanks to a vibrant Twitch and YouTube scene, and the release of 2019’s Definitive Edition. That it even exists is partially because Age of Empires II has enjoyed a massive resurgence. ports, where getting gold was a major consideration in my strat.Age of Empires IV is the first mainline Age of Empires game in 16 years, and a wait of that magnitude creates expectations. I dont think u actually notice this awesome difference in ease of gaining gold later on until u have trid other civs, e.g. Someone mentioned before that because of the banks u dont need to run around for mines, or pay the wood for plantations. In a way, u can take what u learnt from playing Ports, into the Dutch, and then play as a much stronger opponent with the Dutch. They just naturally have a faster and more effective FF and boom, and their turtle is just overall stronger for this fact. The Dutch to me are a dream in every aspect of the game compared to Ports. The Dutch however: After figureing i just couldnt easily and convincingly beat any Dutch player as ports, i figured to start using them (Dispite the fact they are a bit too overplayed.) Its because they are unique they are weak if u know wat i mean. The ports are quick against most civs, and yet when u see ur vsing a Dutch player, u know theres a 75% chance ur gonna lose lol. This true, however, from personal experience, the Ports are just weak when u start vsing better players.

they have 2 strong cards to get hp on walls and buildings stronger, and they have unique units which can counter everything. they have said this because they get the extra tps. Many have said ports are the best turtlers. It will be bloody boring and u reach a max xp point at every game, but its a possible way to get ur HC to rise without letting your record get owned because of it.

Firstly, adamD021: my advice to u is to play a load of those 'xp plantation games' that i sometimes see people host.
